This American Lab

I’ve been listening to Radio Lab and This American Life (available in podcast and radio flavors) and I’ve decided that they are the gold standard when measuring what a slice of life, short form documentary program ought to be. Beyond just superb sound design, the shows are edifying in a way that makes me feel better about the world in general. Also, if Ira Glass and Jad Abumrad interviewed each other, my mind would explode.

When I was driving to the local game store on Sundays, I loved listening to This American Life. Each show was really mesmerizing.

I’ve checked out the podcasts since then but, unfortunately, I seem to have a hard time listening to radio outside of a car setting.

I listen to TAL every week, and have the podcast on my iPod, so I can listen again.. 🙂 RadioLab is new to me, but I really like it too.. it’s a little more.. something. Comical? Theatrical? Not sure how to articulate it. When I hear these shows though, it makes me wish that I had continued or pursued radio. I always love finding that perfect song for the situation…

Radio Lab definitely has more of a “produced” quality to it, edited like a music video or short film.

Got something to say? Go for it!
